Everything Good Flourishes
The great reformer, Martin Luther, wrote over 600 titles, and yet he famously noted that of all his works, the one book that should still be read after his death is his commentary on Galatians, (Paul's letter to the church in Galatia).
In his opening declaration, he fires this warning shot across the bow of church, “If this doctrine be lost, then is also the doctrine of truth, life, and salvation, also lost and gone. If this doctrine flourish, then all good things flourish; religion, the true service of God, the glory of God, the right knowledge of all things which are necessary for a Christian man to know.”
What is this doctrine? It is the Gospel.
Luther’s fear was not so much an external one but that Satan himself, would weasel his way into the church again marrying the doctrine of God’s grace (Gospel) to the doctrine of works and man’s traditions.
This sermon series refocuses our hearts and minds on the Gospel, affirming its foundational role in the life of every Christian and in the mission of cornerstone church.
