"Suprised by Jesus"

Many of us think of Easter as a single day—the joyful conclusion to the season of Lent. But the church invites us to see it differently. Easter is not the end of something, but the beginning of something far greater. At Easter we are reminded in God’s economy dead stuff comes back to life or in the words of Samwise Gamgee “all sad things will come untrue”.
Easter Sunday opens a period of celebration that stretches beyond 40 days of Lent, inviting us to linger in the joy of the resurrection for 50 great days. The church calendar trains us to celebrate the resurrection, also known as Eastertide or The Great 50 Days, from Easter to Pentecost and in doing so forms our lives as Resurrection people living in a Good Friday world.
