STUDENT MINISTRY PASTOR

The position
The Student Ministry Pastor (SMP) at Cornerstone is a person called to the spiritual care for both Middle and High School students. They will accomplish this by organizing regular worship, fellowship, teaching, and service projects for our Middle School (6th-8th) & High School (9th-12th) students. The SMP will lead, not manage, our students as they mature in Christ.
The position

The SMP will lead, not manage, our students as they mature in Christ.
COMMITMENTS
Provide Leadership to the Middle School Mid-Week Gathering (6th - 8th Grade) & High School Mid-Week Gathering (9th - 12th Grade).
- Create culturally relevant and theologically sound programs/experiences for both Cornerstone students and their friends as well as visitors.
- Cultivate a program where MS/HS youth are discipled, equipped, and encouraged to reach the unchurched in our community with the Gospel.
- Develop, implement, and oversee the spiritual formation of MS/HS youth including curriculum and/or small group materials.
- Oversee the presenting of material to fit the unique needs of MS/HS students.
- Maintain facilities that support MS/HS gathering.
SUNDAY MORNINGS
- Oversee the presenting of material to fit needs of both MS & HS youth on Sunday morning.
- Recruit, train, and support other volunteers to accomplish the above as needed.
- Be visibly present on Sunday mornings to meet new youth and families at Cornerstone.
INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS
- Develop individual relationships with MS & HS students as priority to student ministry.
- Ensure each student is regularly contacted face-to-face.
- Be visible at students’ events on school campuses.
THE ONGOING RECRUITING AND EQUIPPING OF HS & MS VOLUNTEERS
- Pray, care for, hold accountable, and train all MS/HS youth leaders.
- Mentor MS/HS youth leaders in the vision and core ministry/leadership values of Cornerstone.
- Train MS/HS youth leaders to develop individual relationships.Develop individual relationships with MS & HS students as priority to student ministry.
DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT SPECIAL ANNUAL EVENTS
- DNOW (Current back to school gathering of churches in the community)
- Summer Ministry Planning (Camp, mission trip, summer program, hire summer interns)
- Winter Retreat
- Others as needed.
UPKEEP OF WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA EFFORTS
- Coordinate with Executive Administrator to determine content on website.
- Keep consistent Social Media presence.
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
- If married, your commitment to you God is evident in your love for your wife and to all those around you. You are a positive role model for both male & female students.
- Host 2-3 parent meetings annually.
- Be known by parents.
CORNERSTONE STAFF
- Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to carry out and further develop the vision of Student Ministries as needed.
- Serve with other staff, as needed, to assist with larger ministries of the church.
- Participating in weekly staff meeting—contributing to vision and core value discussion, giving regular reports on the Student Ministry, and receiving personal encouragement from other staff members.
- Participate in Cornerstone Staff Gatherings as required (staff retreat, Christmas party, etc.).If married, your commitment to you God is evident in your love for your wife and to all those around you. You are a positive role model for both male & female students.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Proven ability to teach the Bible, Reformed theology, and Christian discipleship to youth and adult volunteers.
- Understanding of adolescent development including youth’s educational, social, and developmental needs.
- Demonstrated ability to creatively plan and execute programs and events along with respectable time management.
- Experience managing volunteers under supervision.
- It would be helpful if candidate had previous experience (volunteer or paid) participating in youth or college ministry.
QUALIFICATIONS
Commitment to the theology and traditions of the Reformed faith.
Alignment and passion for Cornerstone’s vision.
Ordained or ordainable in the Presbyterian Church in America.
Seminary degree preferred.
Must be available to work Friday and/or Saturday evenings.
Available to work a nontraditional schedule including before the start of the school day, after school, evenings and weekends.
Lines of Authority
The SMP reports directly to Senior Pastor, assisted by the Executive Administrator under the authority of the Session of Cornerstone Church.
45-50-hour week
Compensation
The salary for this position is in keeping with regional salaries for similar roles in churches our size.
